INTERPRETATION

The first and most common is consecutive interpretation.

In consecutive interpretation, the interpreter will listen to an amount of speech, then interpret it into a foreign language.

This takes more time than other types, but it's also the cheapest and the most regularly requested type of interpretation.

Second is simultaneous interpretation in which the interpreter listens and interprets at the same time.

This is suitable for international symposia, high level business meetings and other occasions in which time constraints and content do not allow for consecutive interpretation.

This generally takes 10 to 15 years of experience to become able to do successfully. And so simultaneous interpreters are few.

The third type is a kind of simultaneous interpreation called whispering.

This is the type of interpretation that we often see on television. During this interpretation the interpreter sits behind one or two people and in a small voice whispers the interpretation.

Unlike simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter has no machine, equipment or booths to cut out noise and therefore this is often seen as the highest level of interpretation.
